As the festive season is upon us once more what better excuse to highlight some of our Christmas archival gems? Gloucestershire Archives’ holdings are rich in references to Christmas. On searching for the word Christmas in the online catalogue, at the time of writing, you will reveal 1184 results. Since most of our material is not listed by content there are many more sources which relate to Christmas or cover the Christmas period. Gloucestershire Archives – an accredited archive service

Gloucestershire Archives is celebrating success after being praised for the quality of its service.

Accredited Archive Service logoThe archives service provided by Gloucestershire County Council has been awarded Accredited Archive Service Status under a new UK wide quality standard for private and public sector archives.

Assessors said it offers a great deal for a wide range of visitors and commended its excellent leadership and management, and its approach to development, planning, partnership building, volunteering and sustainability. Continue reading
