Do you like chatting, laughing and biscuits?

Hob Nob-ing with other people is an important part of the EVOkE reminiscence sessions.

Do you like chatting, laughing and biscuits?

If so, we may have the perfect opportunity for you… The EVOkE reminiscence sessions are now in full flight and are happening in community venues around Gloucestershire. To help spread the project and reach more people, we are now looking to recruit some volunteers.

No less an authority than Aristotle himself thought that the essence of life is ‘To serve others and do good’ and another great man (“The Greatest”, in fact) – Muhammad Ali – said that ‘Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth’.  But the best reason to get involved is that the project is about building relationships with other people and sharing the stories which images and films from Gloucestershire Archives help to set free.

You don’t need to be a techno-wizard: the House of Memories app which we use in the sessions is designed to encourage curiosity and be user-friendly.

You don’t need to know all about dementia: if you like people and are friendly and warm, then you are perfect for the role.

You don’t need to travel around the county – you could help at a session near where you live.

Please get in touch with me at katherine.o’keefe@gloucestershire.gov.uk or on 01452 425447 if you would like to come along to a session and find out more.
