The Explore Your Archive campaign – led by The National Archives and the Archives and Records Association – runs once a year to increase public awareness of the role of archives in society, to celebrate our collections and to emphasise the skills and professionalism in the sector.
This year Explore Your Archive runs from 14th to 22nd November. As it’s the Magna Carta’s 800th anniversary year, many archives services across the UK will be reflecting on the development of democracy and rights in general, through events and activities.
Over the next 5 days we’ll be sharing a selection of stories and pictures from Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire – some clearly about rights and responsibilities; others perhaps less obviously so – in a special series of mini-blogs.
We hope you’ll be able to join us.
“For the Record” is our collaborative approach to gathering, keeping and sharing the documented heritage of local communities in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. You can find out more about the project by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/archives/fortherecord.
Most of the project costs are being covered by grants and contributions from project partners, but we are seeking donations too. Please donate online at www.foga.org.uk or in person at Gloucestershire Archives.
